你可能沒想到，tail 的前身其實是原始日耳曼語裡代表「毛髮、纖維」的詞。古時候的人看到野獸屁股上那撮毛，就直接稱它為 tail。這就跟我們中文說「長尾巴」一樣，本來是指身上的毛，後來演變成動物身後那條 appendage，最後因為位置在最後面，語意就開始向外擴散。
